Description

Vintage and rare Committee Pin Button Ribbon for event taking place at the Narragansett Hotel, Providence, RI, on November 17, 1910 for Signor Mariano Vervena.  Vervena was the Italian Counsel in Providence and founder of Columbus Exchange Bank (in 1910) which eventually (due to failure) became Columbus National Bank.   Unsure what the event was about but each color in Italian flag colored ribbon has printed info - green one is harder to see so it's not pictured but says, 'Complimentary Banquet Tendered To'.   The Italian community had become more influential and affluent in Providence during turn of century.  After the bank failure or closing in 1933 Vervena reportedly returned to Italy.  The hotel was demolished in 1960.  Measures approx. 5.5"L.   This is a great piece of Italian heritage as well as hotel and RI history.  These will ship fast and FREE!  Contact us any questions and please follow our store we focus on rare and unique.
