very nice unrestored 100% original New York license plate. 1944.  13 x 6 inches; black legend on yellow orange background.  completely straight and flat with excellent original paint as seen in the photos.  fresh out of the barn!  New York only issued one plate in 1944, so there is no pair available.  in fact, this plate is restamped over a 1942, as nearly all 1944 issues are.  when the war was pending in late 1941, they held back one half of each 1942 pair and restamped them to reissue in 1944.
DMV clear as of 10/16/2022.  may be registered to your 1944 vehicle for road use.  perfect for your Ford, Chevy, Plymouth, Studebaker, or DeLorean.
